Tudor Houses

In D.T. we have been learning how to use hack saws and blocks in order to cut wood properly and safely. With a dash of patience thrown in, P5 are in the process of building their very own Tudor Village. The development is underway and should be completed very soon, here's a sneak preview of what's been achieved so far...

CARNIVAL

Wednesday 29th March was carnival day. As usual, the costumes were terrific and everyone really enjoyed the activities planned for them. My activity was called How to draw a Superhero. Firstly, the children watched a marvel comic strip designer draw a stick man and within minutes it was transformed into Spiderman!!! Our superheros were fantastic, have a look at some of the artwork produced in just 30

minutes..

Dear Parents and Pupils,

Unfortunately, we haven't been able to access the P5 blogger for a while due to complications with the P5 email account. However, we are now back online!!!

The children have been time travelling and finding out all about Tudor England.

We have researched the Battle of Bosworth, The Six wives of Henry VIII, What life was like for the Rich and Poor Tudors, Tudor portraits and we are now making our very own Tudor village in DT.

Please keep an eye out for many pictures that we have taken so far this term!!!

SCIENCE PLANT DIARIES

The first module of science this year is called Interdependence and Adaptation. Over the past weeks we have carried out many experiments to answer the question 'What does a plant need to grow well?'
Now the children have used their observational skills to find out, their job is to...
GROW A HEALTHY PLANT.
Each child will be keeping a diary to write and draw their observations over 2 weeks. Some children have taken photos to add to their diaries. I'm very impressed...look out for the photos coming soon!

P5 LITERACY SCIENCE FICTION STORIES

P5 have been reading and evaluating different types of fiction texts. We all have our favourite genre. However, the children became hooked when I read an extract from 'Mortal Engines', which revealed a plot where two very ordinary children were being stalked by SHRIKE, a half human-half robot, killing machine.
This science fiction text inspired the class to create their own 'good and evil characters' and to include them in their own science fiction story.
Well done children, you each have a wonderful imagination!!!

Welcome Children and Parents to P5, My Name is Miss Paula and I will be your new teacher. We have some changes within the school this year, we have a new head teacher: Miss Claudia supported by myself, the deputy head teacher. Please make sure you have all of your equipment ready for the start of term as this will make the first week easier for all of us. Reading will begin from the start of the first week. Lets work hard this year and we will succeed in whatever goals we set for ourselves.
